My Favorite Eyeshadow Brushes

My Favorite Eyeshadow Brushes

Do you have things in your life that make you feel inferior? I’m trying to think of how to phrase myself… kinda like how in high school all the cool kids had the Abercrombie jeans and yours were thrifted? That’s how YouTube makes me feel sometimes.

It may sound stupid to some, but it was really hard for me to do this video. When I started my channel, I did it as a very, very shy person. I’ve had social anxiety for as long as I can remember and to protect myself I’ve done my best to float through life under the radar. Before YouTube I didn’t feel cool enough, thin enough, pretty enough, rich enough to have an opinion let alone share it alongside all of these “perfect” women and men in the beauty community on YouTube.

Besides, who is going to watch makeup videos from someone who applies foundation with their fingers, boycotts the mainstream brands like Loreal and Maybelline, doesn’t have Alex 9 drawers, can’t apply false lashes or line their lips and who is happy using eyeshadow brushes from a Boxycharm subscription?

But YouTube has changed me. YOU have changed me with your kindness and your acceptance and your willingness to support me and my content. And you don’t even know it.

My eyeshadow brushes are not “cool”. They aren’t from Sigma, Morphe or Hakuhodo and they probably never will be. But they are GOOD and they work for me and I love them! So why do I feel so insecure about sharing that my FAVORITE brushes are dirt-cheap or freebies?

Because I need to get over it, that’s why. I feel like society puts these “quality” standards on us that we feed into by caring… or at the very least by not being proud of what we are/where we are at/what we have.

You don’t have to spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars on jeans/brushes/makeup/a fancy house/a car/eating out/etc. etc. to enjoy what you have or where you are in life. Your things do not define you. And nice things don’t have to be expensive! And I refuse to feed into the BS of feeling subpar. So I’m posting this damn video if the fear kills me. And if there is ANYTHING in your life that you’ve been letting hold you back from LOVING you and where are and what you have I encourage you to fight it. Because you are worthy of love, respect and kindness. And you are perfect just the way you are.

  1. ALL of my brushes are either extremely affordable or came free in a subscription box! I cannot live without my $1 Elf "C" brush, $3 Elf crease brush, or Luxie blending brush (ipsy). The things we own do not define us & you don’t have to spend a fortune to look like a million bucks! Thanks for doing this video & thanks for being you! ❤ XOXO

  2. Kaily, you shouldn`t be afraid. Doesn`t matter if you are big beauty guru or small beauty channel. Personally, for me what matters it is if youtuber is putting his passion and honesty into what they do. I like big beauty guru, there`s nothing wrong being them, they work hard as well but those small have taught me to be more thoughtful and critical to what they say and on what I`m planning to spend my money. I love expensive things but at the end of the day I want someone to slap me in the face and stop this crazyness called "spending money on makeup". Thanks to small youtuber (and some big BG as well) I know how to find good quality cosmetics without spending lots of money. And your brashes? Come on, so what if they are cheap? Year ago I bought three super cheap brashes (most of my brashes are for average price) and I use them every day. I love them. Who cares if they not from famed brands. If they work for you it means they are best for you and only this does matter. Your chanel is great and I appreciate your work. PS. And one thing, tbh what I see that those small youtubers are more creative with videos and cosmetics and makeup than those big BG.

  3. I’ve gotten all my favourite eyeshadow brushes, especially, from Elf and Ipsy. I didn’t know how useful different sized and tapered blending brushes were until I received them and tried them out.

  4. Love your channel- you keep it real. You are waaay more real then so many YouTubers and give honest feedback about things integrity is everything as is honesty. It’s refreshing to know you are exactly that!

  5. I just want to tell you that watching your videos is something I’ve recently enjoyed a lot, because other youtubers may recommend a product based on their box (Seriously! What’s wrong with them…). I love your videos, they have saved me a lot of money already. 🙌🏻

It’s funny how one of the reasons you felt insecure to do this video is the price, when that’s the disappointing thing about most of these kind of videos (or at least I am not the kind of person that would pay 50 dollars for a single brush) or that is or that I won’t be able get in my country (Mexico)
And yes, something that is scary for me is to write in English so I’m sorry if I made any mistake 😅.
    Keep going girl 💕

  6. I’m just glad subscription boxes send Luxie brushes out!! My best purchase of brushes were the Sephora brand eye brushes. They go on sale every few months for like $20 (Canadian) for five brushes

  7. I totally get how you feel girl, about what you spoke about in your pinned comment. I love that you do feel accepted on Youtube <3 I hope you keep doing you!

  8. I like you even more now. Those perfect men and women of youtube are so shallow and can’t form a sentance without like, shook and so on. I discovered your channel recently and I am in love. I never warn eye shadow before, but got as a present kvd shade and light and now I want more:) And I’m looking at your channel for recomandations. Your reviews are so smart. And this video is perfect, I do not need names of the brushes but what kind of shape I should look for, that’s all. So thank you and keep being you. And most serious, big names in make up industry apply foundation with their fingers. Creator of NARS said all his fondations are meant to be applied with fingers. And sorry for such a long post:)

  9. Couldn’t have said it better myself!! I had the exact same thoughts before posting my first video but you gave me the confidence boost as a normal girl with a you tube channel (not as an insult) to just upload it. I’ve realised that even though no one is watching I don’t mind cos I just love posting videos. Thank you for being wonderful!

I like the look of julep shader brush and the flower beauty one can you recommend an eyeshadow palette from flower?

  10. lol I know what you mean about the abercrombie jeans. BUT I also remembered that all my friends and people I liked didn’t dress like everyone else. And I feel the same way on youtube…the people I love watching the most (like you!) don’t fit into the typical youtuber mold. You keep doing you. xo

  11. Aww Kaily you are one of my favorites to watch💝 You are so genuine and “real”. I’m 35 and makeup is fun for me. You give such a wonderful review of products and it’s so nice to see someone on YouTube near my age range (I’m assuming) 😘

  12. Thank you for sharing! Have a BLESSED weekend sister GOD BLESS YOU and your family ALWAYS!
    💟💞💄💗💘💝💕💓💙💅💛💚👠👜💖👍💋🙏💜😆💟💞💄💗💘💝💕💓💙💅💛💚

  13. I absolutely love what you posted in your down box. So honest and vulnerable and just damn real. I will be a loyal subscriber to you for however long you choose to grace us with your YouTube presence 😚😚

  14. Your description box message really touched my heart. ❤️ I’m subscribed to you because you are uniquely you!

  15. I have brushes from Mac, Sigma, Real techniques , morphe, Wet and Wild, and elf. I think you can find good brushes at any price point. Real Techniques and elf make some of my favorite ones. Elf has a small crease brush that I find particularly useful because I have smaller hooded eyes. Just proof that you don’t need to Shell out for good brushes that work for you

  16. I love your channel and the fact that you are way more laid back. You’ve inspired me to maybe one day start my own channel. I love that you are perfectly imperfect (cheesy as that my sound) please keep making videos like these!

  17. This video is so refreshing. Your makeup is beautiful which proves your point that you can do beautiful looks without the expense. Please don’t be intimidated by others that try to impress with the most expensive.

  18. I honestly think most people are getting sick and tired of the ‘perfect’ people here on YouTube, I know I am. The shit they do is very unachievable for the everyday person. I would much rather watch someone who is real, someone who I can relate to and someone who seems honest. I don’t feel like I get that with the bigger channels at all. Who gives a shit where you got the brushes from or how much they were?!? They work for you and that’s all that matters! Keep being you. 🖤🖤
